Micro-exercises at the desk: two minutes worth their weight in gold
23 April 2026 · 2 min read

Two minutes. The time of a short coffee. A TV commercial. An elevator ride. And also the time needed to reactivate muscles that eight hours of desk work put to sleep.
The body does not ask for much. It does not demand a workout. It demands a signal. A signal telling muscles: wake up. Telling joints: move. Telling the brain: all is well.
Two minutes of targeted movement produce measurable effects. Blood circulation resumes in static zones. Stabilizing muscles reactivate. Intervertebral discs slightly rehydrate.
Five micro-exercises, no equipment: cervical retraction, scapular squeezes, ankle rotations, thoracic extension over chair back, chair squats. One or two per break, rotating through the day. By evening, every body zone has been engaged. No sweat, no changing clothes, no leaving the desk.
